Watching incredible one-takes like that remind me why I write and not participate in film production.
Can you imagine the frustration when someone minor steps slightly off-key? Then the entire thing has to be done all over again. Seriously. One minute is bearable though. 96? Forget about it.
You guys want to meet at 4:00 on Friday, right after 499? If we work fast enough, maybe we could get the whole thing finished and ready to post in a couple hours.
4:00 sounds good to me So anyone interested in collaborating can just meet outside SCA 108 after I guess. Bring your cards so we can get the best combination possible.
I’d love to collaborate here. Long takes are super nice to writers… it can basically be like a theatrical play; very dialogue-based. Hitchcock’s Rope is a great example; the whole film consists of 7 long takes.
I dunno about that – I mean, I think long takes are often most impressive when they show off the dedication and attention to detail required to stage a complex moving shot. 1 minute of solid dialogue would fit the requirements, but wouldn’t necessarily be compelling or visually interesting. Maybe I’m being overambitious?
Well Michael we can always talk about it after 499 and decide whether or not to film on Friday or not. We have to compare cards anyways, so it’s hard to say what the plan is right now.
Can I come help with this tomorrow too??? I don’t have anything going on tomorrow evening. I can write, act, direct, work a camera, provide extra cards… I also have experience acting in theatre, which is like a long shot because if you mess up you just gotta go with it. And I speak a limited amount of German.
I’m really fascinated by this card. It seems like it’d be a lot of fun (and challenging) to do.
Think Joe Wright.
The long takes in Atonement and Pride and Prejudice are incredible.
And Béla Tarr. Nobody does it like Béla Tarr.
That Béla Tarr clip is great.
There’s also Russian Ark — an entire 96-minute feature film done in a single Steadicam shot: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Ark

I agree full-heartedly, but it still feels good to know that the final product is still a result of your work.
I’ve made one too, I’d love to help!
I’ve got this card, so if anyone has any ideas and wants to collaborate let me know!
I’d love to collab. Some of us should meet and see what cards we have before we choose an idea.
I’m down for collaborating on whatever you guys want to collaborate on! I also have extra cards currently!

I might like to come and collaborate here, but do we have a script?
I would love to collaborate on this, if you need an actor, my language skills are limited but i am ethnically ambiguous!

We don’t have a script, because we want to see how our cards fit together first. See you there! If anyone has a tripod, please bring it.

I love Rope, one of my favorite Hitchcock films. And yeah, see you guys there, would love to help / donate cards.
Dylan we can co-write! And you can teach me how to work Final Draft.
I was thinking we could write and shoot it all in this one meeting. Dylan and Kirsten, are you good with that?
I’d love to help out, I don’t know if I can stay long after 499 (rowing team thing), but I will meet up with you guys!
So I think I have this card as well.
I’m good with writing and shooting in one meeting. I think, since it is just one shot, it should be simple enough as it will mainly just be dialogue.

Like, here’s an interesting example:

Yeah, let’s take it as it comes.
Oh, and by the way, I have Russian Ark if anyone wants to borrow it. It really is a great film.
Children of Men! that is all
Jack do you want to come help as well?
Kirsten, Jack, and I can write the hell outta this.
As long as you can do it fast. Also, someone PLEASE bring a tripod! I can rig a sick steadicam using a tripod and a screwdriver.
Can I come help with this tomorrow too???

Maggie you’re welcome to come! Anyone is!
And Dylan I totally agree
Limited amount of German…there must be something amazing we can do with that.
